Is GoHighLevel worth it? An honest review
By FixGHLLast updated
GoHighLevel is worth it if you will use several of its tools together, such as a CRM, funnels, follow-up automation and booking, and you are willing to spend a few weeks setting it up properly. It is not worth it if you only need one tool, or if nobody on your team will own the account after launch.
This is our honest take after working only in GoHighLevel since 2019. Is GoHighLevel legit or a scam?
GoHighLevel is a legitimate software company, not a scam. The company is HighLevel LLC, a subsidiary of GoHighLevel Inc., with its head office in Dallas, Texas. Prices are published on its website, plans run month to month with no long-term contract, and you can cancel from your dashboard at any time.
The "scam" question usually comes from two places. The first is the volume of enthusiastic reviews online: HighLevel runs a large affiliate program, and many of those reviews are written by affiliates. We are one too, which is why this page has a disclosure. The second is usage billing. Calls, texts, emails and some AI features cost extra on top of the plan, which surprises people who expected one flat price.
What is good about GoHighLevel?
The strongest case for GoHighLevel is that one account can replace several subscriptions, and contacts and users are unlimited on every plan. For agencies, sub-accounts and snapshots make it practical to run many clients from one login. The month-to-month billing and free trial keep the risk of trying it low.
| Strength | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| All-in-one account | CRM, funnels, email, SMS, calendars, workflows, reviews and payments share the same contact record |
| Unlimited contacts and users | The plan price does not rise as your list or team grows |
| Sub-accounts and snapshots | Agencies can give each client their own account and copy a proven setup between them |
| White-label and SaaS mode | Agencies can brand the app and, on the $497 plan, resell it as their own software |
| No contract | Month-to-month billing, with upgrades and downgrades from the dashboard |
| 24/7 support | Live chat and Zoom support for agency admins and agency users |
What are the downsides of GoHighLevel?
The main downsides are the setup effort, the extra usage costs and the learning curve. A new account needs a sending domain, phone registration, pipelines and workflows before it does anything useful. Some individual tools are less deep than dedicated products, and HighLevel changes the interface often, so guides and videos date quickly.
- Setup takes real work. Email deliverability, A2P 10DLC registration for US texting and workflow logic all need to be right. Accounts that skip this step are the ones we are most often asked to fix.
- Usage costs on top. Phone numbers, SMS, calls, email sending and AI agents are paid from a prepaid wallet. Our GoHighLevel pricing guide lists the current rates.
- Breadth over depth. In our experience, a business that relies heavily on one specialist tool, such as an advanced email platform or a large ecommerce store, may find the GHL version more basic.
- Frequent changes. New features and redesigned screens arrive regularly. That is good for the product, but menus move and older tutorials stop matching what you see.
- Support is for agency users. HighLevel's support button only shows for agency admins and agency users. Sub-account users go through whoever manages their agency account.
Who is GoHighLevel a good fit for?
GoHighLevel fits businesses that sell through booked calls, appointments or follow-up, and agencies that manage marketing for several such clients. Coaches, consultants, clinics, home services and other local businesses get the most from it when they replace several tools with one account and have someone who owns it.
| A good fit if you | A poor fit if you |
|---|---|
| Pay for three or more tools GHL could replace | Only need a scheduler, or only need email |
| Sell through calls, appointments or quotes | Run a large online store with complex inventory |
| Want automated follow-up for every lead | Have no one to own the account after setup |
| Are an agency managing several clients | Need deep features from one specialist tool |
| Are happy to learn a broad platform | Want something you can switch on in an afternoon |
If you are still deciding, our plain-English guide to what GoHighLevel is covers what it does and what it replaces.
Is GoHighLevel good value for the money?
GoHighLevel is good value when it replaces tools you already pay for. Plans cost $97, $297 or $497 a month, plus usage. If you pay separately for a CRM, a funnel builder, email software and a scheduler, add up those bills and compare them with the plan you need, then add the time you spend connecting them.
It is poor value when you would only use one part of it, or when the account sits half built. The cost to compare is the plan plus usage plus setup, against what you pay today. Every plan starts with a free trial, which is the cheapest way to find out.
How do you decide if GoHighLevel is right for you?
Decide by listing what you need the system to do, checking which of your current tools GHL replaces, and testing one complete lead flow during the free trial. If you can capture a lead, follow up automatically and book the call inside the trial, the platform will very likely work for you.
- List the jobs. Write down what you need: capture leads, follow up, book, take payment, send reviews.
- Add up current costs. Note what you pay each month for the tools that do those jobs today.
- Start the trial on the plan you expect to use.
- Build one flow end to end: a form, a follow-up workflow, a calendar and a pipeline.
- Test it with your own details before you send any real traffic to it.
- Decide before the trial ends. Billing starts automatically when it does, unless you cancel.

So, is GoHighLevel worth it?
For a business that sells through calls and appointments, or an agency running several clients, yes, provided the account is set up properly and someone owns it. For a business that needs one tool, or has no one to run the system, a simpler product will cost less and frustrate less.
If you would rather have the setup done for you, our GHL setup service builds it in the right order.
