Agency vs location
Last updated
What is the difference between agency and location in GoHighLevel?
The agency account is the top level of GoHighLevel, where billing, snapshots, SaaS settings, white-labelling and sub-accounts are managed. A location is the older name for a sub-account. The term still appears in the API, some integrations and older help articles, so a location ID is a sub-account ID.
How is it used?
- Agency users manage many sub-accounts; sub-account users work inside one.
- API keys and integrations are set at either the agency or the location level.
- Snapshots are created and loaded from the agency level.
What usually goes wrong?
- Integrations connected at the agency level when they needed the location level, or the other way round.
- Team members given agency access when they only needed one sub-account.
- Confusion between location IDs and agency IDs when setting up webhooks or Zapier.
